Located on Mylonoyianni Street in the heart of Chania, Wild Child is a compact yet vibrant café–bakery that redefines the experience of urban hospitality through color, texture, and rhythm. The project occupies the ground floor with a loft within a preserved building, integrating a new contemporary interior while respecting the charm of the existing façade.
The design follows a linear layout that organizes the service and seating areas along the depth of the space, emphasizing visual continuity from street to counter. The loft houses the kitchen and storage, allowing the ground level to remain open and dynamic. Stainless steel surfaces, exposed concrete textures, and custom metal furniture create a raw yet precise aesthetic language. The bold use of color — deep blue, vivid red, and warm neutrals — infuses the space with energy and identity, while serving as a visual brand signature.
The red metal staircase becomes a sculptural element, connecting the two levels and defining the spatial core. A tiled grid in white and red outlines the counter area, forming a playful backdrop that reflects light and rhythmically frames the preparation zone. Carefully positioned lighting enhances the tactile surfaces and guides the visitor’s perspective through the narrow geometry of the interior.
Playful yet refined, Wild Child merges the straightforwardness of a bakery with the visual boldness of a design statement — a youthful, high-quality destination for specialty coffee and artisanal bakes in the urban fabric of Chania.
